The differences between Q235B steel and 20#steel

The differences between Q235B steel and 20#steel

1. Different chemical composition

20#steel chemical composition: C: 0.17-0.23%; Si: 0.17-0.37%; Mn: 0.35-0.65%; Cr: ≤0.25%; Ni:≤0.30%; Cu: ≤0.25%.

Q235B steel chemical composition: C:≤0.20%; Si:≤0.35%; Mn:≤1.40%; P:≤0.045%; S:≤0.045%.

2. Different mechanical properties

Mechanical properties of 20#steel: tensile strength 410mpa; yield strength: 245mpa; elongation after fracture: 25; reduction of area: 55; no impact.

Mechanical properties of Q235B steel: tensile strength ≥235mpa; yield strength: ≥235mpa; elongation after fracture: 25; impact absorption energy: 27J.

3. Different performance and usage

Q235 steel is a grade of carbon structural steel, also called ordinary carbon structural steel. Q235 steel does not contain specially added alloying elements. It is mainly used in construction. rolled steel bars, section steels, steel plates, etc.

20#steel belongs to carbon structural steel. 20#steel does not deliberately add alloying elements, and is mainly used to manufacture machine structures. 20#steel is a kind of steel with a large amount of fluid in the steel market.
