proud! Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge

At 9:00 on October 24, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge was officially opened to traffic. The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge spans the ocean, connects Hong Kong to the east, and connects Zhuhai and Macau to the west. It is the first large-scale cross-sea traffic project jointly built by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge integrates bridges, islands and tunnels. It has a total length of about 55 kilometers (including 29.6 kilometers of the main bridge). It is the longest sea-crossing bridge in the world; the bridge deck is a two-way six-lane expressway with a design speed of 100 km/h. The total investment of the project is over 100 billion yuan. Since the establishment of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Pre-Work Coordination Group Office in March 2004, it was officially opened to traffic on October 24, 2018. The entire construction process lasted for 14 years.

This world-class sea-crossing bridge has created the “six of the most”: it is the world's longest span, the longest steel bridge, and the longest submarine bridge in the submarine immersed tunnel. It is also the most technically complicated and constructional in the history of world highway construction. The bridge with the highest difficulty and the largest engineering scale was named one of the “New Seven Wonders of the World” by the British Guardian. The bridges all use domestic steel, and China's steel industry has independently innovated and worked hard to make "China Steel" support this new world miracle.
